Synopsis

MASTER THE ESSENTIALS THROUGH EASY AND NATURAL LEARNING METHODS IN JUST 10 SESSIONS (17 Feb 20 to 20 Apr 20)

BUILD your Confidence in Speaking Arabic!

LEARN how to respond when Listening to the Quran & Conversations!

Language learning is a natural process in life. A child learns his first words by listening, comprehending, responding and mimicking what parents say, before eventually learning to read and write. The same phenomenon occurred during the revelation of the Quran, when it was said “Recite!” after which, the Prophet eventually understood and responded by verbally repeating the words and acting upon them.

This demonstrates how Standard Arabic is not just a language of scripture and books, as how it is commonly learned by many non-native speakers; divorcing the learners of sufficient skills related to listening, responding and expression. Rather, Arabic is a rich living language that encompasses all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). It is easy to learn and understand if acquired using the right tools and methods.

In this 10 session program (2-hour per session), the instructor simulates an environment where audiences become “children” listening to basic commands given by their parents. They will be introduced to their “first words” in Arabic that are used both in the Quran and everyday conversation. Eventually, they will learn to respond to these words and learn how different words with the same root letters are interconnected in meaning and how the language is based on patterns that can be intuitive, easy and fun. It will create an impact on how learners experience listening to Arabic, be it the Quran when recited during prayer, or conversations.

Most importantly, these hands-on exercises aim to pique the audiences’ interest in Arabic and boost learners’ confidence in their Arabic learning journey.

About the Speaker

Ustaz Muhammad Haziq bin Abdul Halim who has completed his Diploma studies in Teaching the Quran, has an insurmountable passion for languages; especially Arabic (in addition to Malay, English, Thai and Mandarin).
This started taking root since his days in the NUS Centre of Language Studies. Excelling in Cambridge’s Arabic Advanced Level Exams further spurred him to pursue the mission of reconnecting the Muslim community with the Arabic language which becomes the window to appreciating the Qur’an and Prophetic traditions.
An extension of his passion for Arabic is his interest in Jawi (Arabic script for writing Malay) scriptures. It is of no surprise that he has founded and is currently managing Ihsan Learning Centre which is an Arabic Learning Centre.
When not managing Che Ani’s Chicken Rice, an F & B outlet which he owns, Ustaz Haziq busies himself by teaching the Qur’an and listening to Arabic poetry.
